From the Kona International airport traveling north, miles of black and brown a’a lava unfold into the distance. Hualalai mountain rises steeply to the east, not far from the road, disappearing into the clouds. The highway dips down slightly, and upon its gentle rise, a beautiful old tree, stunted by the dry environment, comes into view. Below it, in dim spotlight, is the marquee announcing Hualalai Resort.

Four Seasons Hualalai at Historic Ka’upulehu

“The Big Island property has been one of the most popular luxury resorts on Earth since it opened 14 years ago, and for good reason. A recent renovation has made it even better, with updated guestrooms and a new spa to go along with a Jack Nicklaus–designed golf course and other facilities.” Robb Report, February 2010

Set on the Big Island’s Kohala Coast, the Four Seasons has captured a sense of place through Hawaiian design, culture and tradition. Guests and residential members may enjoy a newly expanded spa, beachfront dining, fashion boutiques and Jack Nicklaus golf.

Hualalai Tennis Club

Enjoy eight Rebound Ace surface courts, two lighted for evening play, and court side amenities, including complimentary iced water, sports beverages and towels. Located inside the Tennis Pavilion, the tennis shop offers tennis apparel, racquets and accessories.

Instruction options include

  • Island-style cardio tennis. The pro warms up the class, moves quickly into fast-paced cardio tennis, and keeps things moving to a Hawaiian beat.
  • Private lessons. Get the one-on-one attention, with private and semi-private half-hour and one-hour lessons, at your convenience.
  • Instructional clinics.
  • Daily clinics focus on strategy, practice and drills. Each clinic has a specific theme, such as ground strokes, volleys, overheads and serve and return. Special themes like “get back in the game” are also available.
  • Play the pro. Challenge a pro on the court. If you win the set, you play free!
  • Kālā Pa‘a gold coin clinics for kids. Young guests learn the basics of tennis while having fun. When kids hit a target, they collect a coin to be redeemed for prizes.
